SBHS v Kings

August 9, 2009

Just a quick update on where I’ve been. I shot the Seconds soccer match between Sydney Boys and Kings over the weekend. The final score was 4-1 to Kings but Sydney Boys were a bit unlucky not to have scored a few more of their own.

Sydney boys got close a few times in the first half

But they didn’t get on the scoreboard so the coach got motivational at half time

Apparently it worked

They were unlucky not to score twice

A quick visit to Wollongong

May 23, 2009

Well, not really. We only stayed at Wollongong for about 2 hours but the trip each way was about an hour and a half so it took pretty much most of the day. We did manage to get some pretty good photos while we were there though.

Port Macquarie Photography

April 11, 2009

I’ve posted up quite a few portraits recently so I thought i should go with something a bit different this time so I’m going with these shots at the beach. Simon loves swimming. In summer he goes swimming even at 5pm when it’s getting kind of dark and people are starting to go home. He was planning on doing surfing lessons a while back, but that’s still in the pipelines. In the meantime, there’s always body surfing. And nobody does that better than Simon. Seriously! We were in Port Macquarie and I decided to take my camera out and have a little bit of fun.

I think he slipped. The water was really warm though so he decided to lie in it for a while

Ly and Mai

March 4, 2009

Their whole family is moving down to Melbourne soon because of the new job (nice to see that the economic crisis isn’t affecting everyone) so they asked for some photos of their now extended family before they leave. Mai is now about 2 months old and she still sleeps quite a lot.

While I was waiting for Mai to wake up I took a few photos of Ly. She eats a lot now. She ate about 6 cherries and a whole banana. That’s a lot for a 1 year and 3 month old little girl isn’t it?

When Mai was ready we went into the garden for a little shoot in the awesome afternoon light

It’s funny watching Ly play with her little sister. She keeps going for Mai’s eyes. We’re not sure why but I think it might be an early case of sibling rivalry

What? I didn’t do anything

Inflation

February 19, 2009

It’s crazy what they can fit in a little camera these days. I was looking for a camera for a friend and I was amazed. The nikon P6000 has a whopping 13.5 megapixels and it’s only $560! Ok, that is a bit expensive for a compact camera, but the first digital camera ever my dad ever got was $1000 for 3.2 megapixels. That’s some serious improvement in only a few short years. Sounds like there are going to be quite a few storage upgrades soon.

Speaking of which, I was going through my memory cards and I found this. It came with my dad’s first digital camera.

That’s 16 megabytes not 16 gigabytes.

Alice’s 20th

February 16, 2009

Trying out something different

Alice really enjoyed the night. She sang a lot of songs and she’s not a bad singer either

Ying was an amazing singer. The first time she sang I thought we had left the back-up singer function on

Alice’s new camera. She really loves pink

That framing is awesome. She must have had some serious practice. Every time I do that I always end up cutting at least half of my face

Tennis

February 2, 2009

I had an interesting insight into GPS tennis the other day. I agreed to shoot a tennis match for my brother and I was told “we’re going to lose but we’re going to hit harder than them so it will look like we’re winning”. Interesting. But then again, Kings has such a good reputation in most sports and Sydney Boys is so lacking that the outcome seemed so certain.  Sydney Boys did a good job though. They didn’t win but they did manage to hold their own for most of the day.

Australia Day

February 1, 2009

Since I’ve started shooting events for my agency there haven’t been a lot of photos that I have been able to share because the client usually has the exclusive rights to the photo, but today, I had the chance to cover a fun and (unfortunately) overcast world record attempt at Bondi. Havaianas were trying to set the record for the most number of people gathered together on inflatable thongs. They apparently missed out by a little bit. Oh well, theres next Australia Day, hopefully with a bit more sun.

Some people still had an awesome time trying to catch waves on their makeshift body boards. Good to see.

These things lost air quite quickly though

He left his surfboard at home. A Havaianas will do just as fine

Talking about Australian spirit, I want that hat

A bit of Bondi Rescue action (nobody was hurt. They just needed the boat out on the water just in case)
