Male Test Shoot
January 14, 2012

The weather has been so unpredictable these days that it’s been hard to get any work locked in for sure. This particular shoot has been postponed for rain for a few weeks now, but finally on the day of the shoot we had good weather. And not just good either. It was AMAZING and sunny and everything the model Anabelle and I had missed for the past month.

Cockatoo Island has a lot of amazing warehouses that were completely empty. I guess people preferred to spend their sunny summer days at a beach rather than a dusty old warehouse. Can you blame them?

There are also random chairs sitting in the middle of nowhere all around Cockatoo Island. This chair was sitting in a big ray of light right in front of the most awesome graffiti wall I’ve seen in Sydney.

I just finished my last job for the year! It’s been a busy and stressful year, but I’ve had so much fun and it’s all been worth it. There’s a few more days before I need to think about New Years resolutions, but there’s always time to reflect and learn from what we have already done.
Being a photographer certainly involves a lot of hard work, and there has been a lot said by everyone on the matter. However, it’s so easy to get caught up in the business side of photography that you stop taking any personal photos.
While I feel blessed to be able to spend time with my clients and document their celebrations, it’s always nice to be able to pick up the camera and shoot without any deadlines or agendas or any pressure.
2012 is looking like it’s going to be a busy year so before I get stuck into it, it would be great to be able to look forward and leave some time to shoot for the pure love of photography itself.
Merry Christmas!

Stylish wedding photography in Sydney can be very expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. We have worked a number of times with the very friendly and professional team at Adore Wedding, and their wide range of services helps to make our client’s day that much easier.
Adore Wedding has a wide selection of dresses, both for sale and rent, both within Sydney, and around the world. They also provide makeup and hair styling for weddings in Sydney.

The past few weeks have been a whirl of late nights and hectic weekends. I’m working on the backlog that has built up so some of that work will make its way onto here very soon.
In other news, it’s been years since I’ve had a Starbucks. It turns out their green tea latte is better than their straight coffee.
It’s been great to work with the hair stylist Anabelle again at the Sydney Chinese Gardens. Anabelle has been busy creating different looks, and this time it was a geisha inspired look which fit in nicely with the Chinese Gardens. In fact, it fit in so well the visitors to the garden all thought the model was one of the staff working there.

I’ve been working on a number of different things lately but it’s always fun when I get a chance to collaborate. Recently I worked with the talented make-up artist Janet Yong on a shoot in Hyde Park, as well as St Mary’s Cathedral in the middle of Sydney. The dresses were provided by Adore Wedding.
Hyde park and St Mary’s Cathedral are both great places to have pre-wedding or bridal photo shoots.
I’ve only recently worked with the Adore Wedding team once or twice but they’ve always been really great. Adore Wedding is a bridal store specialising in Japanese style weddings. They do everything from dress rental/purchase to make-up and hair styling, and they have a very experienced team. Their makeup and hair stylist Wendy has worked in the Japanese bridal industry for years.
